Edmonton, AB--The Edmonton Rush are pleased to announce today that the National Lacrosse League has named Captain Brodie Merrill Transition Player of the Week.
Merrill, despite the 9-8 lost to the Minnesota Swarm on Saturday, January 22 at Xcel Energy Centre, netted three (3) goals, two (2) assists and nine (9) loose balls.
NLL's reigning Transition Player of the Year, was instrumental in leading the Rush to their first playoff berth in franchise history along with the club's best-ever regular-season record as they finished the campaign with an impressive 10-6 mark - good for third place in the West Division and tied for the third-best overall record in the league. The former NLL Rookie and Defender of the Year award winner was named the Rush's team MVP for the 2010 regular season.
The six-foot-four, 205-pounder looks to have another impressive season but he rather improve the 0-3 Rush record this weekend against arch provincial rivals the Calgary Roughnecks in the home and away series.
The Rush will make their Rexall Place debut for the 2011 season on Friday, January 28 when they play the first of four games against the arch-rival Calgary Roughnecks and then they will play Saturday, January 19 in Calgary at the Pengrowth Saddledome.
