The National Lacrosse League has announced the reserves for the league's 2011 All-Star Game, presented by the Oneida Indian Nation. The game takes place at the Event Center at Turning Stone Resort Casino in Verona, New York on Sunday, February 27 at 2 PM Eastern.
Rush defender Brett Mydske will make his All-Star debut with Captain Brodie Merrill.
Mydske captured the Rush's Top Rookie Award for the 2010 season as he showcased his talents at both ends of the floor. On offense, the New Westminster, B.C., native led all Edmonton defenders in goals (four), assists (six) and points (10), and back in the defensive end, Mydske was second only to Ian Hawksbee in loose balls collected by Rush rearguards with 67.
"Well deserved for Brett to make the All Star Team," noted Keenan. "Every game he is responsible for checking the leagues best offensive players and he consistently limits production, he's a very complete player."
In addition, to being named to the NLL All-Star Team, Mysdke was named to Canadian men's lacrosse team roster on defence for the world indoor tournament in Prague, May 21-28.
Mydske, 22, is only in his second pro season and currently has recorded one assist, six penalty minutes , twelve loose balls for the 2011 season.
The six-foot-four, 205-pound Limestone College product was Edmonton's third-round pick (25th overall) in the 2009 NLL Entry Draft. Prior to joining the Rush, Mydske was named the B.C. Junior 'A' League's Top Defensive Player for the '09 campaign.
The Rush take on Washington Stealth, the team of former Rush captain, Chris McElroy this Friday, February 11 at 7:00 p.m. in Rexall Place in a home and away series. The Rush will travel following the game Friday, to Everett, Washington for a rematch against the Stealth on Saturday, February 12.
