GREER NAMED OVERALL AND OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK (03/30/2011)

Edmonton, AB -The Edmonton Rush are pleased to announce that forward Zack Greer has been named the National Lacrosse League's Overall and Offensive Player of the Week.

Greer earned both awards as recognition for his outstanding seven-point effort last Friday night which propelled the Rush to a critical 14-13 win over the Minnesota Swarm at Rexall Place. The victory and the individual statistics were particularly gratifying for Greer who was playing his former club for the first time since a trade from Minnesota to Edmonton three weeks ago. Greer was dealt to the Rush in exchange for a first-round pick in the 2013 NLL Entry Draft.

Of Greer's five goals in the game, none were bigger than his last one which was the game-winner that came with only four seconds left in regulation time. The unassisted tally lifted the Rush to a much-needed victory and kept them on pace for fourth place in the West Division heading into a three-game set against the Colorado Mammoth who are also challenging for the final playoff berth.

Greer's game-winning goal was a bit of a family affair for the Rush as his brother Bill notched the deciding marker in Edmonton's only other home win so far this season against Washington.

Against the Swarm, Greer opened the Rush scoring with a power-play goal 3:34 into the game and then added his second goal late in the first quarter. Greer notched his third goal of game at the start of the third quarter and then racked up his fourth of the night with less than five minutes remaining in the fourth quarter which helped set the stage for his game-winner.

Greer's two assists in the game set up Andy Secore's goal late in the opening period as well as a power-play tally by Scott Evans midway through the third.

Since joining the Rush, Greer has notched nine goals and five assists for 14 points in just three games. Overall this season, Greer now has 13 goals and 10 assists for 23 points in only seven games this season.
