Edmonton, AB -- A Hall of Fame legend and his highly touted son will both sport the logo of the Edmonton Rush as they both square-off in hotly anticipated mixed martial arts bouts this month.
Former UFC heavyweight and light heavyweight champion Randy "The Natural" Couture will wear the Rush logo on his shorts at UFC 118 in Boston on Saturday, August 28 when he takes on former boxing champion James "Lights Out" Toney. Their showdown is one of the most talked about encounters in the history of the UFC and is the first meeting ever between rival legends in the sports of MMA and boxing.
And adding to the Rush-Couture pact, Ryan Couture, the eldest son of the former champion, will be making his professional debut and wearing the Rush logo at Strikeforce Challengers 10 on August 13 in Phoenix. Couture sported a 5-1-1 record as an amateur and will take on Lucas Stark in his first pro fight.

"The Rush are extremely pleased to be in the corner of Randy Couture for this monumental fight," stated Gord Sawyer, Rush Team President. "Everyone in our organization is a huge fan of 'The Natural' and we all can't wait to see Randy prove to James Toney that he has no business being in the Octagon.
"We are also very excited to be part of Ryan Couture's professional debut. The Rush organization and our fans are eagerly anticipating the start of Ryan's terrific career".
Randy Couture and the Rush enjoyed a cross-promotional agreement during the 2010 National Lacrosse League season with Couture wearing the Rush logo on his fight shorts and the Rush players wearing Extreme Couture logos on their game shorts. As well, a number of Rush players including home-town standout Jimmy Quinlan participated in week-long training camps at the Extreme Couture gym in Las Vegas.
Considered one of the most-popular fighters of all time, Couture took in his first Rush game midway through last season and was the special guest at a celebrity poker tournament.
