Coach Day
Edmonton , AB - The Edmonton Rush Lacrosse Club was busy today signing two local players, Jamey Bowen and Jordan Cornfield. The announcement of the signing was made following the unveiling of the team’s new visual identity at Rexall Place.

“Jamey is a well-known local lacrosse player in this city, it is only fitting that he sign with the hometown team.” states Paul Day, General Manager/Head Coach “I have watched him for several years play lacrosse, he brings great leadership, commitment and a great pair of hands in front of the net to our team.”

To have the opportunity to play again in the NLL on his hometown team is a remarkable milestone in Jamey Bowen’s lacrosse career. Currently, he is the Director of Lacrosse Operations at St. Francis Xavier Catholic High School Lacrosse Academy in Edmonton.

He last played in the NLL with the Vancouver Ravens during the 2002 season where his strength as a power play specialist was utilized. Following his play with the Vancouver Ravens, he joined the Edmonton Outlaws Senior B RMLL team and led the team to win the President’s Cup in 2002. The team was unsuccessful in 2003 winning the President’s Cup, but Jamey was named to the First Team All-Star. Jamey spent five years from 1996 to 2001 playing in British Columbia with the Northshore Senior A WLA team. He also was a member of the Canadian National Field Lacrosse Team in 1998.

Jayme, Bruce Urban, and Jordan
Another local boy Jordan Cornfield’s dream of playing in the NLL became real today. One too many top goal scorers at the Vancouver Ravens Training Camp in 2002 shorten his opportunity to make that team. However, three years later at 23, that experience proved to enhance his playing abilities and he knows what it takes to make the team.

Cornfield scored 59 points this year with the Burnaby Lakers Senior A WLA team. He was the top scorer for the Delta Islanders Junior A BCLA team in 2002-2003 and was named to the First All-Star Team.

In addition to playing duties, Jordan can also be noticed selling tickets in the front office of the Edmonton Rush.

“It is great talking lacrosse all day with fans.” states Cornfield. “The excitement from fans to finally have a NLL team in the city drives me to want to play and win.”

“I played lacrosse for so many years with the hope that Edmonton would be awarded a NLL team and I would have the chance to play in front of family and friends.” states Bowen. “Today is a big day for me in my lacrosse career.“

The Edmonton Rush franchise was awarded to Edmonton on May 5, 2005 by the National Lacrosse League. Professional indoor lacrosse combines the physical play of hockey with the high scoring, fast pace and play-making style of basketball. Season ticket deposits of $25 are available at all Ticketmaster Outlets, Charge-by-Phone at (780) 451-8000 or online at www.ticketmaster.ca.
