Rush vs Sting

The Arizona Sting defeated the Edmonton Rush, 13-9, at Glendale Arena on Friday evening. With Arizona trailing the game 4-3, Arizona led by Craig Conn scored the final five goals of the half.

The Sting were led by the spectacular play of Mike Miron. After letting up four goals in the first, Miron was able to shutdown the Rush, holding them to a single goal in the next two quarters. Craig Conn (5 G, 1A) and Dan Dawson (3G, 4A) led the Sting to the victory. The Rush were led by the two goals of Kerry Susheski. Edmonton had seven other players add a goal a piece in the game.

The first quarter was a see saw battle which ended with the Sting leading 5-4. Craig Conn led Arizona in the quarter by scoring the teams final three goals. Kerry Susheski kept Edmonton in the game by scoring the final two Rush goals of the quarter. Each team was 0-1 in their power play attempts in the first quarter.

The second quarter was much slower, as Arizona kicked off the scoring 7:15 into the quarter with Craig Conn's fourth goal. Arizona added two more goals by Dan Dawson and Jason Crosbie. Mike Miron helped lead Arizona by stopping every shot he faced in the second quarter. The Sting took an 8-4 lead into the half.

Craig Conn opened up the third quarter scoring with the only power play goal in the game. The Rush scored less then a minute later to cut the lead back to four. Arizona though clamped down on the defensive side and added two more goals of their own. Arizona took a comfortable 11-5 lead into the final quarter.

Arizona started off the fourth quarter looking like they would close out the game as they took a 12-5 lead in the game. Edmonton countered though with four straight goals to cut the lead to just three with just over seven minutes to go in the game. Arizona though clamped down on the defensive side holding Edmonton scoreless the rest of the game. Chris Seller scored the final game for Arizona, to close out a 13-9 victoy.

The Sting next travel to Portland on Saturday night where they will take on the Lumberjax. The Rush will travel to San Jose on Saturday night where they will play their second straight game on the road.
