The off-season continues to be a busy one for Edmonton Rush GM/Head Coach Paul Day as he has added another weapon to the offence with today's signing of free-agent forward Kyle Goundrey to a two-year deal.

He's the kind of player we have been missing...

The 32-year-old joins the Rush after spending the past six seasons with the rival Calgary Roughnecks where he was an assistant captain. "Kyle is a terrific set-up man who is going to make everyone on our offence that much more dangerous," said Day. "He's the kind of player we have been missing - a lefty who will effectively get the ball to guys like Mike Accursi, Dan Stroup and Chris Gill.

"Plus Kyle brings a lot more to us as well. He's a good leader and he's a very tough player. He's an all-around great addition to our team."

For his career, Goundrey has 89 goals and 204 assists for 293 points in 104 games

In 15 games last season with the Roughnecks, Goundrey racked up 11 goals and 28 assists for 39 points. The Richmond, B.C., native has twice compiled 50-plus point seasons as well as a pair of 40-plus point seasons in the NLL.

For his career, Goundrey has 89 goals and 204 assists for 293 points in 104 games. The five-foot-10, 175-pounder was a member of the Roughnecks' 2004 Champion's Cup team.

During the summer, Goundrey has been a longtime key figure with the Maple Ridge Burrards of the WLA. This season, he led the B.C. league with 50 assists (12 coming on the power play) on a Burrards team that failed to make the WLA playoffs. Goundrey and Gill made for a powerful scoring duo in past summer seasons and that combination also found plenty of success together with the Roughnecks.

The acquisition of Goundrey brings the Rush their third newcomer on offence along with the previous free-agent signing of Mike Accursi and the trade for Ben Prepchuk.
