Jimmy Quinlan

“The biggest thing for us was we stayed the course with our game plan and it worked out in the end, so hats off to everyone with the effort,” said Quinlan. “This team has confidence, trust and belief in ourselves. The key for us is going to be hard work and we can’t take any shifts off and if everyone plays hard like this we’ll enjoy coming to the rink.”
Mike Hominuck and Lindsay Plunkett each scored twice and added two assists for four points for Edmonton, while Scott Ranger (3 goals) and Tracy Kelusky (1G, 3 assists) paced Calgary.
The Roughnecks hit the board first as Josh Sanderson found the five-hole on Palidwor at 2:27 of the first quarter before Edmonton’s Dan Stroup replied with his 14th of the season at 3:22 to tie the score 1-1. Calgary then hit pay dirt on the power-play at 5:00 as Scott Ranger’s tally put the Roughnecks up 2-1.

Edmonton outshot Calgary 21-16 at the half.
Scoring slowed in the third quarter as the teams traded singles as Ranger -- Calgary’s leading scorer -- earned the hat-trick with his diving shot just 46 ticks into the third quarter to put Calgary up 6-5, then Quinlan tallied his hat-trick goal with 19 seconds remaining to level the score.
The action on the carpet heated up in the fourth quarter as Stroup’s second of the night at 1:46 in lifted the Rush to a 7-6 lead, however, Kaleb Toth’s one-timer 44-seconds later again tied the score, before the Rush tallied two more goals as Quinlan fired his fourth of the night at 6:58 and Mike Hominuck’s marker at 7:59 put Edmonton up 9-8.
The lead was short-lived as Calgary’s Sanderson tallied in traffic at 9:54 notching the score at 9-9, before Edmonton defender Buck Stobart’s slick moves at 12:55 earned his first goal of the season and moved the Rush up 10-9.
