The Portland LumberJax scored three goals, including the game-winner, to lead their team to their first win of the season, an 11-10 victory over the Edmonton Rush on Saturday.
Edmonton led 10-9 after a Mike Accursi goal with 8:19 remaining, but Dan Dawson and Malawsky scored consecutive goals, and Matt King and the Jax defense held the Rush scoreless the rest of the way.
King finished with 28 saves and improves to 1-3 on the year.
Jimmy Quinlan and Mike Accursi scored three goals apiece for the Rush, while Matt Disher (43 minutes, 23 saves, 5 goals against) was credited with the loss in goal in relief of Curtis Palidwor (17 minutes, 11 saves, 6 goals against).
Portland (1-3) meets the Colorado Mammoth next Thursday at Pepsi Center, while Edmonton (0-4) has a week off before playing the Jax again next week at Rose Garden.
