Jimmy Quinlan

Edmonton, AB - Jimmy Quinlan was named the National Lacrosse League’s Transition Player of the Week following his performance for the Edmonton against the Portland LumberJax on Feb. 2.
The 26-year-old led all players with five points coming from three goals and two assists. He also led the Rush with a team-high nine lose balls. Quinlan scored twice in the first half and then brought the Rush even with Portland at 9-9 in the final moments of the third quarter. He drew an assist on Dan Stroup’s power-play marker and set up the first of three goals by Mike Accursi.
Quinlan is the first Rush player to win a weekly award this season and the fourth in club history. Chris Gill won Offensive Player of the Week during Week 1 last season and the Rush had two goaltenders – Curtis Palidwor and Pat Campbell – previously win Defensive Player of the Week honours.
Despite’s Quinlan’s efforts, the Rush were topped 11-10 by the LumberJax at Rexall Place.
“Jimmy has been a consistent force for us every game this season and I think that you will hear a lot more about him in the upcoming games,” said Rush General Manager/Head Coach Paul Day.
Quinlan’s performance moved him into second spot on the Rush scoring chart with 15 points through four games. He is three back of team leader Accursi and one ahead of A.J. Shannon. Quinlan sits second on the Rush in both goals (6) and assists (9).
The NLL’s weekly player awards are determined by a vote of the General Managers and Head Coaches of the league’s eleven clubs.
The Rush’s next game is Saturday, February 17 at Portland.
