Troy Bonterre

The Edmonton Rush traded transition player Chris Seller to the Calgary Roughnecks today in exchange for a third-round pick in the 2008 National Lacrosse League Entry Draft. In a second move, the Rush signed free-agent defenceman Troy Bonterre.
Seller, a 2005 NLL All-Star, was acquired by the Rush off the roster of the Arizona Sting during the 2007 NLL Dispersal Draft. In two games with Edmonton, Seller notched one assist and collected three loose balls.
In Bonterre, the Rush add a veteran presence and one of the NLL’s legendary enforcers. The six-foot-three, 250-pounder from Owen Sound, Ont., has played 44 games in the league over six seasons – the last two with the Buffalo Bandits.
Bonterre has totaled seven assists and 97 loose balls in those games along with 192 penalty minutes including a career-high 73 with Arizona in 2004. His only two goals in the NLL came with Buffalo during the 2006 playoffs.
“Troy is a great team guy and a big body who excels at being physical,” said Rush GM/Head Coach Paul Day.
Bonterre also has previous playing experience with Columbus and New Jersey.
