The Edmonton Rush snagged their first win of the season at the expense of the Portland LumberJax.The Edmonton Rush defeated the Portland LumberJax, 9-7, at Rose Garden on Saturday. The win marks the first of the season for the Rush, who started 0-6, as well as the first for new head coach Bob Hamley who took over the club last week. Curtis Palidwor recorded 47 saves in the win.
AJ Shannon led the Rush with three goals, while Chris Gill and Jimmy Quinlan scored two. Dan Stroup and Steve Hutchins added singles.
Brodie Merrill and Matt Holman each notched two goals for the Jax, while Ryan Powell, Dan Dawson and Peter Morgan added singles. Matt King (8 saves, 7 goals against) was pulled in the third quarter for Dallas Eliuk (8 saves, 2 goals against).
Edmonton (1-6) is off next week before hosting Rochester during All-Star weekend. Portland (3-6) meets the Calgary Roughnecks at Pengrowth Saddledome next Saturday.
