The Toronto Rock defeated the Edmonton Rush by a score of 14-9 on Friday night in front of 14,312 fans at Toronto's Air Canada Centre. Rock goaltender Bob Watson stopped 43 out of 52 shots faced, and Aaron Wilson paced the offense with four goals. Toronto improved to 6-4, while Edmonton falls to 2-7 with the loss. In the first quarter, Edmonton took a 2-1 lead on a power play goal by Chris Gill. The quarter ended with the scored tied at 2-2. In the second quarter, the Rock offense came to life as Toronto outscored Edmonton 7-1. Aaron Wilson scored twice as the Rock led 9-3 at halftime.
After being held to three goals in the first half, the Rush offense came to life in the third quarter. Four different Rush player scored, but the Rock matched them goal for goal to take a 13-7 lead into the fourth quarter. Aaron Wilson scored twice in the quarter for the Rock.
In addition to Wilson's five point night (4 goals, 1 assist), Josh Sanderson (2G, 2A) and Ryan Benesch (4A) each tallied four points. Edmonton scorers included Chris Gill and Lindsay Plunkett who both tallied 2 goals and an assist. Mike Accursi scored a goal and tallied three assists in the losing effort. Curtis Palidwor made 38 saves.
Toronto plays twice this weekend, returning to action on Saturday night in Buffalo when they face the Bandits at 7:30PM Eastern. Edmonton returns home and prepares to host San Jose on Saturday, March 29th at 9:30PM Eastern.
