Edmonton, AB - The National Lacrosse League recognized Edmonton Rush team captain, Chris McElroy, by awarding him the first ever NLL Community Service Award presented by Progressive.

McElroy, a four year veteran who has been with the Rush since the team’s inception in 2006, has spent the past 3 years working tirelessly towards charitable causes and bringing lacrosse to the forefront in the Edmonton area. The Rush's team captain worked with a number of charities this year, including the Stollery Children's Hospital, the St. Valentine's Day Hair Massacure, and the Right to Play. In addition to giving back to the community he also continually promotes the Rush and the sport of lacrosse at every opportunity.
The 25-year-old defender scooped 101 loose balls in 16 games this season and was also given the Edmonton Rush 2008 Top Transition Player Award at the last home game on April 26, 2008.
