Rush Start the Year with a Champion
2012 NLL West Divisional Champs, The Edmonton Rush announced today that Ricky Ray, who led the Toronto Argonauts to their 2012 Grey Cup victory, will be the honourary captain at the Rush's 2013 season opener Sunday, January 13th at 2:00 p.m. vs. Toronto Rock on Crystal Glass Field at Rexall Place.
For Ray, it's a return home to the city where he started his brilliant CFL career. In nine seasons with the Edmonton Eskimos, the California native led the Green and Gold to Grey Cups in 2003 and 2005 and set numerous club and league passing records.
In making the announcement, Rush owner Bruce Urban says "Ricky Ray is an Edmonton sports icon and a Rush fan as well! It will be a great chance for sports fans to thank Ricky for the many great years in our city and help support the Rush as we start our 2013 season."
Ray will take part in the season opening ceremonial faceoff. The first 4,000 fans will receive a special Crystal Glass glow stick to help the Rush light up the Rock.
