Edmonton, AB -- For the second time this season and consecutive months Edmonton Rush rookie sensation Mark Matthews has been named the NLL's Rookie of the Month.
The award comes following the team snapping a 12-game regular season losing streak to the Calgary Roughnecks (5-5) with an 18-13 road win at Scotiabank Saddledome on Saturday night in their third meeting of the “Battle of Alberta” this season
Matthews (6 GP, 17G, 6A, 23 PTS, 16 LB) recorded a combined 23 points (17+6), with a single-game high of seven points (6+1) on Feb. 15 vs. Washington, and 16 loose balls as Edmonton posted a 3-3 record in the month of February which contributes to the team improving to a .500 record.
"Mark had a pretty consistent month and of course really established himself with the 11 goal weekend in wins over Washington and Colorado.” states General Manager/Head Coach Derek Keenan.

The Rush have a weekend bye and return to action with the next three games on the road with the first game returning to Rochester, Saturday, March 16 since Champions Cup last May 2012.
NLL Notes: The National League announced today the trade deadline is set for Wednesday March 13th, 5pm ET. NLL Clubs are required to submit final rosters to the League by Friday March 15th, 5pm ET.
